    MORENO VALLEY, Calif. –Bernice “Bea” was born in Spanish Fork, Utah, toNorwegian i m m i g r a n t parents, Carl J a c o b s e n and Astrid Mathiesen, who were both classically trained m u s i c i a n s. She spent her high school years in Belle Fourche, S.D., before striking out on a career in interior design that led her to New York City and San Francisco.

    While there, she further cultivated a love of the arts and opera that lasted throughout her life.

    On December 27, 1953, Bea married William (Bill) Nuckols and they had two boys, James Hunter and John Patrick. The family moved from Kansas City to Detroit to Ely, Nevada, before settling in 1964, in Moreno Valley, California , where they built the home in which she lived the rest of her life.

    Bea remained a lifelong supporter of the arts and learning and was very active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormon ). She was an avid reader and her interests extended to gourmet cooking, baking, travel, camping, theater, art and classical music
