Bass, including the heavyweights, need to eat more when warm summer weather dials up their metabolism. Knowing their specific movements throughout a 24-hour period during summer will direct you to where and how you can catch them.
MORNING & EVENING
PROSPECT COVER ADJACENT TO DEEP WATER
Sunrise may signal the end of a largemouth’s nighttime binge, but they’ll continue to cruise through early morning, looking for forage. In evening, after lying low all day, bass move out from under cover and up from deeper water to search again. This aggressive attitude makes them susceptible to a buzzbait. Run this lure near any cover adjacent to deep water, including submerged grass, windfalls, rocky points, pockets in matted grass edges, rocky banks, and boat docks. Retrieve the buzzbait just fast enough to keep the blade sputtering at the surface.
* GEAR TIP: Tie on a white 3/8-ounce, single-blade buzzbait, such as a Lunker Lure model, for morning and evening fishing
